In 2017, the National Psoriasis Foundation stated that August was no longer National Psoriasis Awareness Month. Instead, they changed it to National Psoriasis Action Month. The “…name change is more than symbolic. Mike Siegel, Ph.D., vice president of research for the NPF, sees the change as a chance to urge rheumatologists, dermatologists, and other physicians to aggressively treat psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.” Here are five things you can do to celebrate National Psoriasis Action Month:

1. Read about your psoriasis

Learn about your psoriasis!

Get the latest research news and tips to control your psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis from the National Psoriasis Foundation Newsletter. Follow helpful hashtags on Twitter and Instagram to stay in the know. Knowledge is power, ladies!

2. Volunteer with a worthwhile organization

The National Psoriasis Foundation is also a great way to get involved with other psoriasisters! Complete their Volunteer Interest Form to find ways to volunteer in your community, advocate for better care, become a mentor, become an ambassador, and/or share your psoria-story.

3. Donate for a cure

Donating or setting up a recurring donation to the National Psoriasis Foundation helps drive their efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected through their services and programs. Are you seeing a trend here?

4. Take care of yourself

Have you heard that self-love is the new self-care? Try these three ways to practice self-lovethis month.

5. Party with your psoriasisters!

Do all of the above! Throw a classy article club party about the latest research article on psoriasis (complete with psoriasis-friendly cocktails), volunteer with your psoriasisters, host a fun-draiser, or throw a self-care, self-love party. As the iconic Lindsay Lohan once said, “the limit does not exist.” And when you throw that awesome party, be sure to tag @psoriasisterblog on Insta because we want in on the fun!
